Regional convenor Wendy Nichols recognised for contribution to trade unionism at TUC regional conference

UNISON Yorkshire and Humberside regional convenor Wendy Nichols was presented with an award to acknowledge her long-term service to the trade union movement at the TUC’s regional conference in York over the weekend.

Wendy was nominated for the ‘Long Service/Outstanding Achievement Award’ by UNISON Yorkshire and Humberside regional secretary Karen Loughlin.

She was presented with the award by the Labour Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, David Skaith.

It follows the announcement in December that Wendy has been appointed to the House of Lords.

UNISON Yorkshire and Humberside regional secretary Karen Loughlin said: “Wendy has worked tirelessly in the union movement across Yorkshire and Humber for decades in various roles, including as a branch secretary and regional convenor.

“But she’s also contributed to UNISON nationally, which is epitomised by her time as president of the union.

“I’m delighted she’s been presented with this award to acknowledge the huge contribution she’s made.”
