The National Probation Service/Probation Service has failed to apply a contractual term which says that staff who were appointed, re-graded or promoted between 1 October and 31 March in any financial year should be granted their first pay increment on the six-month anniversary of their appointment, regrading or promotion. The result is that staff employed by the NPS prior to the establishment of the reunified Probation Service who are part of this group may be one increment behind where they should be in their pay band and owed compensation for the resulting deduction of wages.
