Calderdale protests as part of ‘pay fair for patient care’ campaign

Healthcare assistants working in the A&E departments at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust have staged another peaceful protest as part of UNISON’s ‘pay fair for patient care’ campaign.

Band 2 workers protested outside Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax as part of a push to see some healthcare support staff rebanded, as they are carrying out clinical duties and patient observations – tasks which fall under band 3 of the Agenda for Change pay scales.

This image explains what Band 2 tasks are (feeding, bathing, toileting, recording fluid balance and nutrition), and compares them with Band 3 tasks (monitoring heart rate and blood pressure, bloods, wound observation, urine analysis)

UNISON is proud to be the trade union that represents healthcare support workers and we’re campaigning for the NHS to start getting it right for you.
