UNISON Workplace Reps Refresher Online

On-line Workshop running 10.00-11.30 (4 x Thursdays)

This online course will be delivered in 4 modules and it is designed to meet the requirements of the Employment Rights Act (ERA) re-accreditation for further training of steward and workplace reps.

The course aims to:
• Update reps on new legislation
• Introduce new developments within UNISON
• Share skills and experience to further develop approach as a UNISON rep

Caring Conversations Online Workshop for Branch Officers

19 – 20 November 2020

Training aim: To increase the confidence of staff to deal with emotionally challenging conversations in a caring way.

Learning objectives:
• Increase confidence of staff to deal with emotionally challenging conversations in a caring way
• Recognise the difference between sympathy and empathy
• Be aware of the signs that someone is suffering traumatic stress
• Tips to listen actively and be supportive
• Look at ways to help someone feel less anxious Look after yourself after being on an emotional call

This workshop will run over two consecutive days for 3 hours each day and there will be a short comfort break every hour.

This workshop will:
• Help to improve self-esteem
• Provide ideas and tips for addressing your own confidence and assertiveness issues
• Look at how to deal with criticism
• Help to speak with confidence

Pre-Retirement On-Line Workshop for LGPS Pension Scheme Members

This online workshop, run by True Bearing Chartered, will make you aware of your choices and aid you in your decision making around retirement.

By the end of the workshop you will be able to:

Create your own route path from the world of work to the world of retirement
Identify changes in both pensions and financial regulations which will affect your retirement decisions
Identify the long term issues affecting your retirement
Identify personal and lifestyle actions which will help to improve your retirement
Start the process of planning for a successful retirement
To be eligible you need to have plans to retire within the next 12-18 months.

This is a 3 hour on-line workshop with a break mid way. It will be delivered by an Open University lecturer and is open to UNISON members and activists.

This workshop delivered by the Open University that will help you:

• Understand the main mental health problems that people face

• Gain an insight into the experience of having mental distress

• Explore some strategies for promoting good mental health

• Be able to take a revised awareness to the workplace

• An introductory understanding of Dyslexia
