A 48-hour strike by workers at Humberside Airport has been suspended after airport bosses agreed to a meeting, UNISON says today (Friday).
Firefighters, cleaners, security and travel shop workers were among those due to walk out from 4.30am on Tuesday (31 October) in a row over pay.
The union and managers will meet via arbitration service Acas on Thursday 9 November. If no agreement is reached, a 72-hour strike is planned for Tuesday 14 November.
UNISON Yorkshire and Humberside regional organiser Michael Parkinson said: “The talks should be a positive step towards resolving this dispute if all sides come with an open mind.
“Nobody wants to take strike action, but Humberside Airport staff should be paid properly and fairly.”
